Cracking experience, lots of different backgrounds and themes to picture yourself in. The best photos you will take on holiday. The staff were very helpful and of course spoke perfect English, once again avoiding my attempts at pigeon portugese. Well worth a visit - you do need to book in advance as there are times lots to ensure it doesn't get over crowded.

It was a rainy day and what and fun place to go to. You do need to book ahead which we didn't realise but was well worth the wait. All the jumping out of and into pictures brought big smiles. And we went back to the pictures to get more funny and silly photos.

We had a fun time here. The illusions work well and are easy to follow and the photos are effective. The staff were great. One even chap took some photos for us on 2 or 3 of the installations so we could both be in them. It did help it was quiet - Monday afternoon in term time. I can imagine it being more difficult when busy.

Safety & Insider tips

Crowd hacks and small details that make the visit smoother.

Safety Tips

Stay safe and secure

1

Keep a close eye on your belongings, especially your phone and wallet, while you're distracted taking photos. Pickpocketing can happen in crowded tourist areas like this museum.

2

If visiting with children, ensure they understand to stay close and avoid running to prevent trips and falls, especially when people are focused on taking photos.

3

Watch for uneven surfaces or small steps within the exhibits as you move around. Some areas might be dimly lit, so be mindful of your footing.

4

If someone approaches you offering 'help' with photos, be cautious and politely decline if you feel uncomfortable. It's always best to ask another tourist to take a picture for you instead.

5

Stay hydrated, especially on hot days, even though you're indoors. Bring a water bottle or purchase one inside the museum to avoid feeling faint.

Insider Tips

Pro traveler secrets

1

Plan to spend at least 1.5-2 hours to fully enjoy the exhibits and get all the photos you want. Rushing through will diminish the experience.

2

Bring a portable charger for your phone, as you'll likely be taking a lot of pictures and videos, which can drain your battery quickly. You don't want to miss out on capturing all the fun.

3

Consider going on a weekday instead of a weekend to avoid larger crowds. Weekends tend to be busier with local families and other tourists.

4

Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be walking and posing for photos for a while. Avoid wearing high heels or sandals that might be slippery on some surfaces.

5

Coordinate outfits with your group to enhance the visual appeal of your photos. Consider bright colors or themed outfits that complement the artwork.
