⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Awesome Tour! We had an incredible time on the Chicago Gangster and Ghost Tour! Our guide, Baylor, was fantastic—informative, fun, and an amazing storyteller. She brought the history to life in a way that was entertaining, immersive, and unforgettable. There is a fair amount of walking, but even with a bad knee, it was completely doable. And honestly, it was worth every single step. This was one of the best immersive history lessons I’ve ever experienced! We had such a great time and it was worth every penny. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago—or even locals who want to learn something new about Al Capone. Don’t miss it!

If you are someone who enjoys history mixed with urban legend this is the tour for you. We covered a nice tolerable distance of about 1.5 miles. We had the opportunity to stop at the Palmer House for a adult drink break which was appreciated not only for the facilities but also the beautiful architecture. I enjoyed the stories being told by our tour guide Davey. 100% recommend this tour!

My job booked this walking tour as a team outing on Oct 3rd. Baylor was our tour guide. She was fun and very informative. I loved learning things about my city. We had a beautiful day for our short stroll. I like the break in between at the Palmer House. Overall good tour, I would recommend. Pictures of some of the sites we saw.

Review for the WALKING TOUR: The stories and the locations were not the only highlights, but the skill and presentation of the storyteller as well. Sophia was amazing and engaging! We saw a deal at Groupon for $28 and we decided to take a chance on the activity. You don’t go in any buildings, except one - the Palmer House Hotel. It was a good place for a break in the tour, though no scary stories were told about it. Parking: Use spot hero beforehand to find the best deal closest to Hoyt’s tavern (meet up spot). Picked the spot near Dunkin Donuts for $10.99 and 5 min walk away. FYI: The tour does NOT circle back close to where they originally started. We ended the tour about 20 min walk away. So just keep that in mind. We were fine with it and even got to stop by one of our favorite Gelato places in Paris, Amorino on the way back. Discovered they have a store here along the walking tour.

In case I haven’t shared this - there’s no time like the present! I went on the Chicago Gangsters & Ghosts tour on June 5, 2024 when I was visiting Chicago for a travel conference. Connor did a PHENOMENAL job. His extensive knowledge, sense of humor, and spot-on recommendations made this a tour I still think about over a year later! I highly recommend it for those who enjoy a little macabre and want to see some of the iconic sites around Chicago in a different way!!

Stay safe and secure
Stick with your tour group, especially at night, and avoid wandering off alone into dimly lit streets or alleys, as these are common settings for the tour and could attract unwanted attention.
Consider the weather conditions and wear appropriate footwear. You'll be doing a lot of walking, and some streets might be uneven or slippery, especially after rain or in colder months.
Keep valuables out of sight and be mindful of your belongings. Pickpocketing can occur in touristy areas, so use a cross-body bag or keep your wallet in a front pocket.
If the tour involves storytelling about criminal activity, remember it's just that - a story. Avoid engaging in any behavior that could be misconstrued as supporting or glorifying illegal activities.
Stay hydrated, especially during warmer months. Bring a water bottle and refill it whenever possible, as walking tours can be tiring.
If you have any concerns about the tour route or locations, don't hesitate to voice them to the tour guide. They are there to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
Pro traveler secrets
Don't be afraid to ask your tour guide for restaurant recommendations after the tour. They often know the best local spots in the area and can steer you clear of tourist traps.
If you're interested in photography, research the locations on the tour ahead of time to identify good angles and lighting conditions. Some spots might be better suited for daytime visits to capture the architecture.
Dress comfortably and in layers, as Chicago weather can be unpredictable, especially during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall). This will help you adjust to temperature changes during the tour.
Engage with your tour guide and ask questions! The more you interact, the more you'll learn about the history and stories behind the locations you visit.
If you enjoy the tour, consider leaving a positive review online or recommending it to friends. This helps support the tour company and ensures others can enjoy the experience.
