Seth was a fantastic tour guide! I learned so much about the history of random places in lower Manhattan that I usually just pass by quickly. He did a great job with pacing and keeping everyone entertained and together, my friends and I definitely got into the spooky season spirit after this! :)

Wonderful tour, would recommend to anyone! Loved the history of the gangs not just through stories but the original places. Jordan was a delight and had an answer to all of my many questions!

This was a fantastic tour! Our guide was Zach and he was wonderful. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We loved learning about the gang and mafia history of the city and the tour was filled with interesting stories. Zach also shared a variety of resources at the end of the tour including great books to check out, and some food and drink recommendations as well. Overall we would highly recommend this tour and we learned a lot from Zach!

This was a great tour! We had Seth as our guide, and? He was the best! (Yes, as in better than all of the other tour guides) he was personable and as a group we talked about our beliefs and experiencesβ€”he was engaging and made the tour fun. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the 5 families and their historic activities and incidents over the years, and the ghostly tour component was fun and eerie. I love the history of NYC. and he gave the history of what happened at the location, which added context to its haunted lore. Highly recommend! And thanks Seth!

Safety & Insider tips

Crowd hacks and small details that make the visit smoother.

Safety Tips

Stay safe and secure

1

Stick with the group and avoid wandering off alone, particularly in less populated side streets or alleyways explored on the tour. These areas can be disorienting, especially at night.

2

Be mindful of uneven sidewalks and potential tripping hazards as you walk. The tour may take you through older parts of Greenwich Village with cobblestone streets or poorly lit pathways.

3

Keep your valuables secure and out of sight to deter pickpockets, especially in crowded areas near popular tour stops. Consider using a cross-body bag or money belt.

4

Inform a friend or family member of your tour plans, including the tour's name, date, time, and meeting point, so someone knows your whereabouts.

5

If you feel uncomfortable at any point during the tour, don't hesitate to speak up to the tour guide or remove yourself from the situation. Trust your instincts.

Insider Tips

Pro traveler secrets

1

Wear comfortable shoes as Greenwich Village is very walkable but the tour may involve standing and walking for an extended period. This will allow you to enjoy the experience without foot pain.

2

Arrive a few minutes early to the meeting point to allow time to check in and get oriented, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. This prevents unnecessary stress and ensures you don't miss the beginning of the tour.

3

Bring a portable charger for your phone, as taking photos and videos on the tour can drain your battery quickly, and you might need your phone for navigation or communication.

4

If the tour involves visiting any indoor locations, check beforehand if they require tickets or reservations, and book them in advance to avoid disappointment.

5

Consider the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Greenwich Village can be chilly in the evenings, even in warmer months, so bring a jacket or sweater.
